I review any films I see new or old. I am a fan of comedy, documentary, action, and drama but I dabble in a little bit of everything.

So I have been on a bit of a hiatus…

So lets change that!

This is going to be a detailed version of what took place last night.  A few friends and I took a trip to see a rooftop movie.  We all packed into my Chevy Lumina and headed off to Brooklyn.  I am from a small town in northwest connecticut so it was definately a driving experience for me.  After getting lost once we made it to the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.  Now I have heard of this area being packed with hipsters but that does not do it justice.  We got there a bit early and went to a place called Williamsburger and had some dinner and a beer.  I got my first Brooklyn Summer Ale.  A very fitting selection.  It was an excellent time.

We get to this hole in the wall joint where the rooftop movie was at and it was packed.  Apparently tickets were potentially sold out but the lady let us in anyway which was awesome.  So we went to the rooftop which was actually the back lot of the building.  There were rows of seats, a big screen, a wrestling ring, a view of some bridge over the top of the screen, and a sailor jerry spiced rum trailer.  I thought the view of the bridge was beautiful.

The film starts which is a documentary called Fake it so Real.  It is about a small group of independent wrestlers in a small promotion in rural North Carolina.  The characters are very much like normal, everyday people.  There is a guy who had many health problems as a kid and due to COPD had to get injections every week.  He thinks this cause his butt to grow big and that is strongly utilized in his character.  There is another guy with a huge beard.  There is Outlaw, the guy who runs the company and has many health problems due to wrestling.  There is the rookie prospect Gabriel.  There is another guy who has a Chris Jericho-esq character and he has no bellybutton.  It was a very good look into the week before one of there wrestling shows.  I enjoyed the film very much.

After they had a little bit of wrestling which was ok and pretty forgettable at best.  Then the after party which was amazing.  First off the event provided free sailor jerry spiced rum mixed drinks.  I partook a little bit but this guy was driving, so i shared my drinks with my pals.  We walked around, talked to some of the wrestlers, and then ran around the ring a little bit.  Then we got a bunch of awesome pictures in the ring and with some of the guys.  I found some sweet lightup glasses with pictures of Cindy Lauper on them.  I kept those shits haha.  I talked a little wrestling with the director of the movie Robert Greene.  He seemed excited about the whole CM Punk angle and how glad he was that his event was happening when interest in wrestling may be peaking again.  The place started clearing out so we called it a night.  Then I had to drive home exhausted.  I’m not sure how we made it back but we did safely and that is another thing that makes me happy.

Final thoughts for the night:  Wrestling is awesome.  Documentaries rule.  I love going to Williamsburg and the drive wasn’t bad soooo hopefully this will happen again.  Life is good.  My friends are awesome for finding this.  And I FUCKING LOVE HIPSTER GIRLSSSSSS!!!!
